Theoretical Perspectives
I am a Registered Social Worker with the Manitoba College of Social Workers. I have been licensed to provide therapy since April 2015.
I worked extensively with Immigrant Families in various capacities, I am an expert on immigration challenges, supporting my clients to identify and embrace healthy coping strategies for successive integration to the Canadian society.
I have also worked extensively with Child and Family Services, becoming well versed with the Inter-generational trauma that most First Nations’ families experience due to the Residential Schools history, the Sixties’ Scoop and currently the Child and Family Services system that sometimes subject children to further trauma.
In order to provide solid therapeutic services I combine the Strength and empowerment perspective with Solution-Focused Theories in appreciation that deep within, every individual has the capacity to embark on a healing journey that generates solutions to the challenges that bring them to therapy. Jane has extensive knowledge of trauma-informed theories mainly from her long years of working with immigrants and refugee families. She also incorporates indigenous ways of knowing in her practice. Jane is also an active member of Action Therapy, practice under the insightful mentorship of Mitch Bourboneire.
